Use tools in unconventional ways, or ways that are sometimes considered wrong. Looking at the first 60x40 in. B&W paintings I realized I was making them faster and with no tape. I used a long wooden stick as a straight edge to wipe out clean lines and to paint in straight edges. This produced less than perfect results which were more unpredictable and added to the character of the painting.
